The Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS, in power) is currently putting the finishing touches on the organization of its ordinary congress around December 23, the date which marks the anniversary of its creation in 1990. Closing the renewal of the federal authorities, initiated several months ago, this one will take place in Tahoua, political stronghold of the former president Mahamadou Issoufou.
According to our information, this great rout of the socialist formation will confirm his post as president of the party – which he currently occupies on an interim basis – Foumakoye Gado. Former minister, this one is today High representative of the president Mohamed Bazoum. His next appointment as head of the PNDS a moreover, was recorded behind the scenes by the Head of State and by the latter’s predecessor, Mahamadou Issoufou.
The two men – companions in political struggle since 1990 – indeed still meet almost daily, even if they only meet in private and outside the official salons of the presidency. Mahamadou Issoufou also continues to receive many of the country’s most important political decision-makers at his home.
