THE ECO PORTRAIT — Reappointed in March 2022 to the presidency of the National Employers’ Council of Togo (CNP-Togo) for a second five-year term, Coami Sedolo Laurent Tamegnon succeeded in uniting the country’s captains of industry and making their apex body a privileged interlocutor of the public authorities. Now bringing together 24 professional associations, i.e. 1,400 companies, the organization had effect went through a deep crisis for four years, until the founder of Sanecom International was elected chairman – unanimously – in February 2017. Since then, the board seems to have regained its serenity and, above all, its role as a force of proposal in the strategic choices of the State to perpetuate the development of Togo.
In particular, the CNP has brought into its midst the Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (Apbef) and the Association of Large Companies in Togo (Aget), which has 65 member companies, representing some 1,100 billion CFA francs (1 .67 billion euros) of balance sheet and 17,000 employees as of December 31, 2021. “Today, we work in tandem with Aget, which does nothing without consulting employers, and vice versa”, specifies Laurent Tamegnon. “Previously, Aget et the CNP had a mixed relationship. Through ongoing consultation, we have managed to improve our relations and we now exchange regularly, ”confirms Jonas Aklesso Daou, boss of Zener (ex-Sodigaz) and president of Aget. And to add: “At the start of Tamegnon’s presidency, the CNP was going through difficult times. He was able to bring a certain serenity and stability to employers. »
