The night of September 21 to 22 was a long one at the Ouagadougou Court of Appeal. It is 1:30 a.m. when General Gilbert Diendéré and his co-accused listen to the verdict of the judge. General Diendéré, head of the Pô commando training center, with the rank of captain at the time of Dabo Boukary’s death, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of 1 million CFA francs. Lieutenant-Colonel Mamadou Bemba was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and a fine of 1 million of FCFA. Victor Yougbaré, on the run, was sentenced in absentia to 30 years in prison and a fine of 5 million CFA francs.
