At 51, Oulimata Sarr has been named slast Saturday – September 17 – Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation. On Friday, September 23, she will officially replace the former vice-president of the African Development Bank (ADB), Amadou Hott, in this post. A time approached as Prime Minister, the latter seems not to have resisted his enmities with Amadou Ba. In accepting the position, the new minister says at goodbye to more than thirty years of career in the private sector and within the United Nations.
Oulimata Sarr, who until now held the post of regional director of the UN Women agency, does not inherit the portfolio in the most favorable circumstances. Faced with inflation which undermines the standard of living of the Senegalese, Oulimata Sarr will have to act quickly, and this eighteen months before the presidential election, while the presidential majority in the National Assembly has never been too fragile.
