Freedom lawyer : this is the title of the book published by Yassine Bouzrou last February, in which he denounces the growing instrumentalization of justice by political power, as well as illegitimate police violence. The same violence that was at the heart of Ladj Ly’s film, Wretchedand which are now pointed out again by the director Romain Gavras, in his film Athenawhere the star lawyer of the Parisian bar plays his own role alongside renowned actors, such as Vincent Cassel or Dali Benssalah.
Very acclaimed during its presentation at the Venice Film Festival, the feature film – which will be released on Netflix on September 23 – shows the conflagration of suburbs and neighborhoods abandoned by the public authorities, under the impulse of an angry youth and that nothing seems to appease. A scenario that obviously recalls the riots of 2005.
France-Morocco: this new element which could exculpate Omar Raddad
Met the day after the preview, which took place on September 13 at the Salle Pleyel, in Paris, Yassine Bouzrou, who sits at the top of several rankings of the best lawyers in France, returns for AND on the judicial news of this back to school: the request for review of the trial Omar Raddad, the Moroccan gardener who has been fighting for more than 30 years to prove his innocence, the conflict which is tearing the family of football international Paul Pogba apart, but also about his film experience.
Capcov: After the discovery of new elements, a request for review was presented by Omar Raddad, and a new hearing took place on September 15. Will we ever see the end of this highly symbolic affair?
Yassine Bouzrou: This case is extremely complex and extremely suspicious. One has the impression, seen from the outside, that justice refuses to open its eyes to the concrete elements that have summer brought.
