The president of the Chadian transition, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, flew on August 5 to Doha, Qatar, where he is preparing to sign an agreement resulting from the “pre-dialogue” initiated several months ago with the country’s politico-military groups. By then, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno will have a busy diplomatic agenda. According to our sources, he will receive on August 11, on the occasion of the nationale Chadian, the Heads of State of Bissau-Guinean, Umaro Sissoco Embaló – also at the head of ECOWAS – and Congolese, Felix Tshisekediwhich holds the presidency of the Economic Community of Central African States.
The Chadian thus intends to reaffirm the strategic position of his country, between West and Central Africa. Four days later, on August 15, it is the Senegalese Macky Sall who should go in turn to N’Djamena, on behalf of the African Union, which he chairs in 2022.
